As much as I LOVE the Holiday season, there are just some days when I get into a funk, and am sick of the cold, dry weather or the salty, dirty snow. Today was one of those days. I know some of you might see this and think, "How the heck can you be in a funk seven days before Christmas?!" And to be honest? I don't know why, sometimes the "winter blues" just arrive like a yucky cold; You feel it coming on little by little throughout the day, and you can't do anything to shake it.
While I was on the computer, I stumbled upon this post from Country Living on my Facebook feed:
This post made me feel better because #1 the garden pictures they featured were beautiful and #2 seeing the 3,106 "likes" and 322 "shares," made me realize I wasn't the only one that could be feeling these "winter blues."
How did I get out of this funk today? Prep a tad for Spring! No, I didn't t start packing away my Christmas decor, but I did buy a couple new pillows for Spring. I went to one of my favorite sites to get pillows: H & M Home. I wanted to share the pillows I bought.
Here is a picture of my vintage sled I'm using on my front porch. As you know, this year I went natural & simple, so I hung a swag of evergreen branches, attached a bow and some large bells. Wa-La! I had this idea to find some vintage, white ice skates to incorporate in the display, but I have yet to find any for a good enough deal. I'll be on the hunt for them this next year.
I absolutely love this month because I am constantly decorating, and it makes me so darn happy! Normally, bloggers will give you a "Holiday House Tour," where they show pictures of their decorations for every room... literally their every nook and cranny... but because my kitchen is in the renovation-process, and with moving in a short time ago, I am definitely NOT prepared for you to be ALL up in my space! With that said, I will show you what I do have decorated for Christmas. =)
This year, I wanted my Christmas decorations to be simple, but my "simple" is probably not what the average person's "simple" is. Let's be real, my style of decorating is like a normal person's decorating on steroids but I can't help myself. I wanted a lot of green, silver, and rustic accents. Think: forest, pinecones. burlap, antlers, antique silver, etc. Okay, enough typing and on to the pictures!
Note** Below the pictures, I list where I bought some of the decor from, just in case you want to pick one up for yourself. =)
This blog follows my love for family, design & entertaining!
